Privacy Policy

In short
- We collect what we need to run a service marketplace: who you are, how to reach you, where a job is, and how you pay.
- We use the address you give us for a booking. We do not track your phone's live location in the background.
- Text you write — a service description or a job brief — may be sent to third-party AI models outside Ghana to draft a listing or suggest a category. AI never sets a price.
- Chat messages are stored on our servers in readable form for 90 days, can be read by our staff for safety and disputes, and are then permanently deleted. Chat is not end-to-end encrypted.
- We share data with payment processors, push-notification and cloud-storage providers, and AI providers. We do not sell your personal data.
- Deleting your account removes your account record and your identifiers. It does not erase past booking and payment records, which we keep in de-identified form because the law requires it.
01 Who we are and what this covers
Uven Tech Ltd ("Uven", "we", "us") runs the Uven platform: the websites www.uven.app and www.uven.tech, and the Uven, Uven Pro and Uven Admin mobile applications (together, the "Platform"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Our address is Haatso West Legon, Accra, Ghana.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet our obligations under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). It forms part of our Terms of Service.
This page is the authoritative version of our privacy policy. The Uven mobile apps link to this page rather than keeping their own copy, so there is only one document to read and only one to keep current.
02 Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: you give it to us, we record it as you use the Platform, or we receive it from a partner.
A. Information you give us
- Account details: your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, and a password. Your phone number is how you sign in.
- Profile details: a profile photo, a short bio, and the addresses or service areas you save.
- Provider verification details: if you offer services, we collect a government identification number and supporting documents so we can verify who you are.
- Payment and payout details: the card or mobile money account you pay with, and the account you are paid into. See section 08 for exactly what we hold and what we do not.
- Job addresses: the street address where a job will happen, chosen through address search, including the map coordinates for that address.
- Text you write: job briefs, service descriptions, reviews, dispute statements, and support messages. Some of this text is sent to AI models — see section 06.
- Content you upload: portfolio photos, job photos, videos, and documents. See section 12.
- Chat messages: what you send to the other party in a booking. See section 05.
B. Information we record automatically
- Device and session data: a device identifier, the platform and app you are using, your IP address, and the city and country we infer from it. We use this to keep your session tied to your device and to spot suspicious sign-ins.
- Usage data: what you search for, what you view, and the bookings, payments and messages you create, with timestamps.
- Server logs: records of requests to our systems, used for debugging, security, and fraud prevention.
C. Information we receive from others
- Payment processors: confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, and display-safe details such as the card brand, the last four digits, and the expiry date.
- Address search: when you pick an address, the mapping service returns the formatted address, a place reference, and coordinates.
- Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
03 How we use your information
We use what we collect to run the Platform, to keep it safe, and to meet our legal obligations:
We rely on your consent where the law requires it, on the performance of our contract with you for everything needed to deliver a booking, on our legitimate interest in a safe and working marketplace for fraud prevention and security, and on legal obligation for tax, accounting and law-enforcement requests.
04 Location: addresses, not tracking
Location on Uven is address-based. When you book, you choose an address through address search, and we save that address with its map coordinates. We use it to find providers near the job, to work out distance-related pricing, and to tell the provider where to go.
Uven does not track your device's live location. There is no continuous, real-time or background location tracking in the Uven apps, and we do not build a movement history for any user. If your device asks for location permission, it is to help you find your current address in the address picker — not to follow you.
The exact job address is shared with the provider assigned to that job, so they can carry out the work. Providers who are only considering a job, or quoting on it, see an area-level location — a city or neighbourhood — and not your street address or coordinates.
05 Chat messages
Messages you send through Uven chat are carried over an encrypted connection, but they are stored on our servers in readable form. Uven chat is not end-to-end encrypted. We say this plainly so you can decide what to send.
Retention: chat messages are kept for 90 days from the date they are sent. After that they are permanently deleted from our systems by an automatic process. This happens whether or not your account is still open, and it cannot be reversed.
Staff access: authorised Uven staff can read message content where there is a legitimate reason to — investigating a dispute, responding to a safety or abuse report, or acting on a legal request. Messages can also be flagged automatically for moderation review. We do not read chat for advertising.
Because messages are deleted after 90 days, keep your own copy of anything you may need later. If a dispute is open, raise it while the messages still exist.
06 Artificial intelligence and your text
Some Uven features use third-party AI models. When they run, the text you wrote is sent to a model operated by another company, outside Ghana, and the result is returned to us.
What is sent, and why
- Provider service descriptions. If you describe your service in your own words during onboarding, that text is sent to a model to draft a structured listing — a service name, a category, and the questions customers should be asked.
- Customer job briefs. If you describe a job in a free-text brief, that text may be sent to a model to work out which service category it belongs to, to check whether the brief has enough detail for providers to quote on, or to help rank which eligible providers to show you.
- Provider profile summaries. Where enabled, a model may summarise a provider's public profile, ratings and portfolio into a short summary shown to customers comparing providers.
Who processes it: Anthropic (the Claude models), and models reached through OpenRouter, which routes requests to providers including Anthropic and Google (the Gemini models). These are cross-border transfers — see section 10.
We send the text needed for the task. We do not send your payment details, your government identification number, or your chat history to these models.
AI never sets a price
No price on Uven is produced by an AI model. Our systems reject any AI output that tries to state a money amount — this is enforced in code, not by policy alone. AI can suggest a category, draft wording, or highlight relevant providers. Prices, charges, refunds and dispute outcomes are set by fixed platform rules or decided by our staff. An AI shortlist can only reorder providers who were already eligible; it can never introduce one who was not.
07 Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it with the following, and only for the purposes named:
| Who | What they receive |
|---|---|
| Paystack | Payment processing. Receives your name, email address, phone number, the amount, and your card or mobile money details, which you enter on their secure page. |
| Moolre | Mobile money processing in Ghana. Receives your phone number, name, the amount, and mobile money authorisation details. |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Push notifications. Receives your device push token and the content of the notification we send you, which can include a booking reference or a short message preview. |
| Amazon Web Services (S3) | File storage. Holds the photos, videos and documents you upload, and serves them back through time-limited links. |
| Anthropic, OpenRouter, Google (Gemini) | AI processing. Receive the free text described in section 06 — service descriptions, job briefs, and public profile information. |
| Email and SMS providers | Delivery of one-time codes, receipts and alerts. Receive your email address or phone number and the message content. |
| Stock photo services (Pexels, Unsplash, Pixabay) | Receive a service name, category or tag so we can find a placeholder image. They do not receive your personal data. |
Between users
To make a booking work, a customer and the assigned provider see each other's name, profile photo, and the information needed to carry out the job, including the job address and the contact route through Uven chat. A provider who is only quoting on a job sees an area-level location, not your street address.
For legal reasons
We may disclose information to courts, regulators, or law enforcement where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety.
In a business transfer
If Uven is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer with the business. We will tell you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
08 Payment information
Uven does not store your full card number, your card security code, or your mobile money PIN. Card and mobile money details are collected by our payment processors on their own secure pages.
When you save a payment method for repeat use, the processor gives us a reference that lets us charge that instrument again. We store that reference encrypted. Alongside it we keep only display-safe details — the card brand, the last four digits, and the expiry month and year — so you can tell your saved methods apart.
Money you pay for a booking is held by the platform in escrow and released under the rules set out in our Terms of Service. We keep records of every payment, hold, release, refund and payout, including amounts, timestamps and the booking they relate to. We are required to keep these records even after your account closes — see section 11.
09 How we protect your information
Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, so nobody at Uven can read your password. Internal access to personal data is limited to staff who need it for their work.
Encrypted where we store it: your first name, last name, date of birth, and government identification number are encrypted in our database, as are the saved payment references described in section 08.
Not encrypted in our database: your phone number and email address are stored in readable form, because they are how accounts are looked up and kept unique. Chat message content is also stored in readable form (section 05). We tell you this rather than claim blanket encryption we do not have.
Our full Security Policy describes our technical measures, how sessions and devices are handled, and how to report a vulnerability. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10 Sending data outside Ghana
Some of the companies we rely on operate outside Ghana, so your personal data is transferred to and processed in other countries. This applies to our cloud hosting and file storage, our push-notification provider, our email and SMS providers, some payment processing, and all of the AI processing described in section 06.
Where we transfer personal data abroad, we do so to deliver the service you asked for and under contracts with those providers that require them to protect the data and to use it only on our instructions.
11 How long we keep data, and what deletion actually does
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. Chat messages are deleted after 90 days (section 05). Session records expire and are cleared automatically.
What happens when you delete your account
You can delete your account from the app. We ask for your password to confirm it is you. Be clear about what this does and does not do:
- Deleted: your account record and the identifying information on it — your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, identification number and profile details. Your account can no longer be signed into and your identifiers are released.
- Retained, no longer linked to you: records of bookings, payments, payouts, disputes, saved addresses and uploaded files are kept, but they are unlinked from your deleted account. We keep them to meet financial, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention and legal obligations, and because a past booking also belongs to the other party to it.
- Not automatic: deleting your account does not by itself delete files you uploaded from our file storage. You can delete your own uploads from the app before you close your account, which removes them from storage.
Asking for fuller erasure. If you want more than account deletion — for example removal of uploaded files, reviews you wrote, or remaining records that can still be traced to you — email privacy@uven.app from the email address or phone number on the account, and say what you want removed. We will confirm it is you, tell you what we can erase and what we must keep, give the legal reason for anything we keep, and act within the time Act 843 allows. If a booking is in progress, a payment is unsettled, or a dispute is open, we will finish that first.
12 Content you upload, and images you see
Your uploads. Photos, videos and documents you upload are stored with our cloud storage provider and served through time-limited links. Uploads may be reviewed before they are shown publicly.
The licence you give us. By uploading content, you confirm you own it or have the right to share it, and you grant Uven a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize and display that content in order to operate and promote the Platform. This licence lasts while the content is on the Platform. It ends for future use when you delete the content, except that we may keep copies where they form part of a booking, dispute or transaction record we are required to retain. You keep ownership of everything you upload.
Stock photos. Some images on Uven are licensed stock photography, sourced from services such as Pexels, Unsplash and Pixabay, or from our own image library. Where a provider has not uploaded their own photos, we may attach a stock image to their listing so the listing is not blank. A stock image is not a photograph of that provider's work, and it is not owned by Uven or by the provider. We record the source and licence for each stock image we use. If you want to be sure you are seeing a provider's real work, ask them in chat before booking.
13 Notifications and marketing
We contact you by push notification, email and SMS. When you create an account, all notification categories are switched on by default — account activity, payments, disputes, social activity, and promotions.
You can turn any category off at any time in the app's notification settings, including promotions. Some messages are part of the service and we will still send them: one-time sign-in codes, payment receipts, booking changes, and security alerts.
14 Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the following rights over your personal data:
Access
Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and for information about how it is used.
Correction
Update or correct inaccurate data, most of it directly in your account settings.
Deletion
Delete your account, and ask us to erase data we no longer have a legal reason to keep. Section 11 explains the limits honestly.
Object and restrict
Object to processing for direct marketing, and ask us to pause processing while a complaint is being looked into.
Withdraw consent
Where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time. This does not undo processing already carried out.
Complain
Complain to us at privacy@uven.app, and to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you are not satisfied with our answer.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@uven.app from the email address or phone number registered on your account. We will verify who you are before we act, and respond within the period allowed by Act 843. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
15 Children
Uven is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email privacy@uven.app and we will delete the account and the data.
16 Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top always shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects your rights — a new category of data, a new recipient, or a new purpose — we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Because the Uven apps link to this page, the version you see here is the version that applies.
17 Governing law and complaints
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and in particular the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, email privacy@uven.app first, so we can try to put it right. If your complaint concerns a booking, a payment or a provider, use the dispute process in our Terms of Service: raise it with the other party through Uven chat, then submit a formal dispute claim through the Platform for Uven to decide.
You can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana at any time. Any claim that cannot be resolved through those routes is subject to the courts of Ghana.
