Protecting Your Information

Security Policy

Last Updated: January 2025

1. Our Commitment to Security

Your trust and safety are the foundation of Uven. We are deeply committed to protecting your personal information, your account, and the integrity of our platform. This Security Policy outlines the measures we take to protect our community and the best practices you should follow to keep your account secure.

This policy is a part of our main Terms of Use.

2. Our Security Measures: How We Protect You

We have implemented a multi-layered security strategy to protect your data and prevent fraudulent activity on the Uven Platform.

A. Data Protection & Encryption

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected using strong Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption.
  • Encryption at Rest: Sensitive user data stored on our servers is encrypted to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Strict Access Controls: We enforce strict internal access controls, ensuring that only authorized Uven personnel can access sensitive user data.

B. Payment Security

  • Trusted Payment Partners: We do not store your full credit/debit card information on our servers. All payments are processed by trusted, third-party Payment Service Providers.
  • Escrow System: Our escrow payment system protects Clients from paying for incomplete work and protects Providers from non-payment.

C. Account Security

  • Secure Password Hashing: We store user passwords using strong, industry-standard hashing algorithms.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA): We strongly encourage all users to enable Multi-Factor Authentication on their accounts.

D. Fraud Prevention & Platform Integrity

  • Provider Verification: Our mandatory verification process for Providers helps to prevent bad actors from joining the platform.
  • Suspicious Activity Monitoring: We use automated systems and manual reviews to monitor for suspicious login patterns and unusual transaction activity.
  • Keeping Transactions On-Platform: By requiring all communications and payments to stay on Uven, we create a secure, traceable environment.

3. Your Security Responsibilities: How You Can Protect Yourself

Security is a shared responsibility. We ask you to follow these essential best practices to protect your account and personal information.

A. Create and Protect a Strong Password

  • Be Unique: Use a password for Uven that you do not use for any other website or service.
  • Be Complex: A strong password is long (at least 12 characters) and includes a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Never Share It: Your password is like a key to your account. Do not share it with anyone. Uven staff will NEVER ask for your password.

B. Recognize and Avoid Phishing Scams

Phishing is an attempt by fraudsters to trick you into revealing personal information. Be cautious of:

  • Emails asking for your password or financial information.
  • Messages creating a false sense of urgency.
  • Links that ask you to log in to a website that doesn't look right.

C. Keep Transactions and Communications On-Platform

  • Never pay a Provider directly with cash, mobile money transfer, or any other method outside the Uven payment system.
  • Keep all communication within the Uven Chat. This creates a secure record that our support team can review if a problem arises.

D. Secure Your Devices

  • Log out of your Uven account when using a shared or public computer.
  • Keep your mobile phone, computer's operating system, and the Uven app updated to the latest version.

4. How to Report a Security Concern

If you notice any suspicious activity, believe your account has been compromised, or discover a potential security vulnerability on our platform, please act immediately.

  • For Account Issues: If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, first try to change your password. Then, contact our support team immediately.
  • For Platform Vulnerabilities: We encourage responsible disclosure. If you are a security researcher and believe you have found a vulnerability, please contact us directly.

Please report all security concerns to our dedicated security team:

Email: security@uven.app

We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

5. Policy Updates

We may update this Security Policy from time to time to reflect new threats, technologies, or changes in our services. We will notify you of any significant changes.
